THE EXTENDED EMPIRE...

Jeremy, what influences your writing, other than music?

Jeremy: One of the big things I would think would be the relationships I have in my life as a whole. Like relationships I have with these guys obviously in the band. It kinda feels like a marriage when you spend a lot of time together. [laughs] Me and Pete actually shared a bed last night – these are the things you have to do on the road.

Stuff like faith in God and how I see him in my life and my world and also how I see the world around me.

Sometimes I like to be a fly on the wall and step back a little bit, especially with song writing, I think getting out of the way of the song as much as possible is the best way to let it flow.

What do you guys like to write about?

And we like to write about a whole wide spectrum of things. I think you need that balance of real light-hearted stuff and then you need to bring to light some heavier issues that are on your heart as well.

So one of the things we’re really passionate about is human trafficking because I think that’s one of the biggest issues that are swept under the world carpet. We’ve got a couple of songs that talk about that but not in a real pressuring way, but in an opening of the eyes kind of way. You know, hopefully it doesn’t make people feel guilty but hopefully just encourages people into some kind of productive action!
