ABOUT THE BAND.

Anchored in the aggression of bands like Killswitch, Engage and As I Lay Dying, Australia's Forgiven Rival are drawing the attention of international audiences.

In 2006, Forgiven Rival independently released their debut EP 'The Symphony of Words' before signing to Australian label, El Shaddai Records. 2008 saw the successful Australian/Japanese release of their Debut Album 'This is a War' which was followed by the release of the first film-clip ‘Like The Effects of the Wind’.

In the following months, the band inked a deal with Cartel Music Management and picked up endorsement deals with Zildjian, Roulette Custom Drums, Vic Firth, ESP, Hughes & Kettner and Dean Markley. Their music appeared on a number of Extreme Sports films including Extreme Velocity, Adaptions Encore, and Freesurf DVD.

With constant touring, charity events, festival appearances and heavy media/radio attention, Forgiven Rival began to carve their mark on the Australian music scene.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW.

Andrew Kitchen recently caught up with local guys Forgiven Rival.

Check out their new additions, exclusive news and where their journey is taking them.

INTERVIEW HIGHLIGHTS

Q. Joel, you guys have completed a tour with Haste The Day. Have they been heroes of yours?

They have yeah! We were pretty excited to even hear they were coming out to Australia again. They’ve been to Australia twice to play at the Soundwave Festival and we heard they were coming to do a headlining tour and I was just stoked to go and watch them!

Then we got a phone call from our manager saying we got the whole support for the National Tour which was pretty sick!

To be on tour with them was the best tour we’ve done, playing in front of 300 – 400 people every show in places we hadn’t been before. And to meet the Haste The Day guys, they’re amazing dudes and to get the background from their world tour gave us an insight of what we have to do and how it’s going to be if we’re going to be a band like that!

Q. Sim, you've got a live scoop for Bulls+Arrows?

Yeah, we're pretty happy ... we've made a bit of a sweet deal with a record label in the States called Indianola Records and they've released Day To Remember, Evergreen Terrace and they’ve decided to release our album, This Is A War, over in the States! So that’s going to be released early 2010 and we’re really excited about that – it’s a big move forward for the band and hopefully, that’ll get us some more publicity in America. And hopefully when we go over there, people will know more of who we are.
