ABOUT THE BAND.
On their latest tour out to Australia, Andrew Kitchen caught up with Stephen Christian from Anberlin.
After 6 year and 4 full-lengths, this alternate rock group has done it all. Their latest album is a great mix of melodic harmonies and good rock, and having toured with the likes of Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance, these fellas are no strangers to the stage.
Their recent album “New Surrender” comes after signing with Universal Republic and they are said to make the following comments about their new album.
“The whole album is conceptualized around the theme of a new surrender in the sense that everyone in their lives has something they know they have to give up,” responds Christian when asked about the title of the bands latest opus.
“There’s something that’s holding each of us back from who we would become, so I think each song kind of tackles that theme of surrendering parts of life whether it’s a person or a vice.”

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW.

BEYOND THE CAMERA...
Q. Who can work with with Faceless International?
The trips are open to anybody, you know, and we've had a few Australians go aleady. They just meet us over there and we just utlise peoples' talents, and whether that's cutting hair, playing guitar, photography or videography, whatever the case may be, we assemble a team to do what we can.
It's amazing how that through poverty or the fact that a lot of people don't have opportunity, you'll soon discover you know, yourself and what you're good at and what you want to do with your life when you're not surrounded by plasticity, advertising and consumerism, like we are in the west.
Q. You have a side project from Anberlin too don't you?
Yeah, it's called Anchor & Braille and 'Felt' is the name of the record we've just released.
Q. What's on the horizon for Stephen Christian?
Well I know that I want to get an MBA, you know, like a Masters in Business, because I feel like that's going to open up a lot of doors to go to places like Africa. Over there I could go and use practical business skills so people can have the same opportunities or maybe just quality of life, a roof over their headand the ability to provide for their families.
Obviously I think anybody's goal with a marriage would be to have children someday but I'd really love to focus on non-profit. I don't know what that means, it might not be Faceless - it could be a many number of things!
I'd also love to continue writing books and see where that takes me too.
